Catching up...

For those of you who don't know me personally and are wondering what ever happened after that last blog post nearly 3 years ago... Here in a nutshell is what has happened since.

I used the 'opportunity' of being unemployed for several months in 2010 to finish my Bachelor's in Science Degree from TESC which majored in Business Administration, and I even earned an award for having done a significant amount of my course requirements via correspondence. (I have still to this day never visited my alma mater by the way. Perhaps someday, but New Jersey is so far away...)

I also used that said 'opportunity' to do a significant amount of flying and actually passed my check ride to become a Private Pilot on July 27th of 2010. (The above picture is of my flight instructor and I right after we got back from me passing the check ride. I was his last student before he went on to bigger and better things...)

At the end of August in 2010 I got hired on at the company I currently work at, called Zeacom, based in New Zealand, hence the name. Though technically we got bought out by a Canadian company called Enghouse in the middle of 2012. And yes I have been doing a significant amount of travel with this company as well. (I do hope to post things about my travels in future blog posts, assuming I can keep myself motivated.)

In July of 2011 my nephew Joel was born. Above is pretty recent picture of the two of them. Carolyn is now 3 and Joel will be 2 in a few months. My brother and sister-in-law are also expecting their third, and the due date is actually my birthday, May 1st. Now I realize the chances of my new nephew (Yes, they found out it's a boy) being born on my birthday are slim, but regardless, I am pretty excited about it. :)

And now on to somewhat lesser events... In June of 2012 I had the opportunity to go a Cubs game at Wrigley Field. (And yes, as you can tell by the photo, I got there a little late. The Cubs did come back and win however.) And on Sept 11th of 2012 I had the opportunity to go with a co-worker to Fenway Park for a match-up between the Red Sox and the Yankees. Now normally I cannot stand either of those two teams, but Boston was so far out of it at that point in the season I decided to become a Sox fan for just one night. And they ended up winning in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the 9th. Couldn't have asked for a more epic ending to what was an incredible evening! :)

In Sept and Oct of 2012 I had the opportunity to check off a few more states from my visited states list up in the Northeast. Above is a souvenir I got when I visited our country's smallest state, also known as the 'Ocean State'. For those of you who know about my obsession with the idea of visiting all 50 states one day, I am now up to 39 visited. Though I may be checking number 40 off the list soon, so stay tuned.

And finally, last but not least. During this last year I starting playing the violin. I have found that it travels much easier than my French Horn ever did and I use it to help me relax in the evenings when I'm on business trips. The above shot was taken in a hotel room from one of my recent trips.

So now that that I've caught you up on what has happened in the last nearly three years hopefully the next few posts will be more recent news. And I may go in a different direction now and post about some other topics other than what I've been up to, since it's probably pretty dull just to read about me.
